It is a short walk from the Queensway tube station - not the most central location really. You can't get there from St Pancras by tube w/o changing lines.

You could take the tube from St Pancras to Paddington and then a cab from there. But it would be easier to just take a cab all the way - but it won't be cheap.

Question - if you are arriving at St Pancras, is there a reason you booked a hotel in Queensway? Many other areas would be more convenient.

I am filled with admiration, Janis.
I cannot be alone in wondering what on earth the OP was on about.
I assumed that Pancras referred to the Saint of that ilk, but after that I was lost.

Hi Frenchwow.

You'll find it a lot easier to navigate in London when you are here if you use the full names for places and streets - so St Pancras and Inverness whatever (there are probably several streets starting with Inverness). We don't abbreviate names like that over here and we find it quite irritating and people are less inclined to be helpful - or may give you the wrong advice by not understanding where you are talking about. It just makes our teeth itch. (hence MissPrism's response). Why make it harder for people to help you?

It's forgiveable for a newcomer if they are unaccustomed to meeting Inverness Road/Avenue/Square where they live.
However, it can really lead to confusion.
I think it was on this forum where an American was going to Ipswich from London. He was given clear instructions to get a train at Liverpool Street Station. Ipswich is just over an hour away.
The poor soul arrived hours late having realised that he was on his way to Liverpool when he was actually on the train.
One assumes that he had asked somebody the way to the Liverpool station.

Argh! I agree! I've only been living in London for 6 months, but I've definitely learned that you have to be complete, and correct, in your way-finding requests. My favorite was a few weeks ago, here on the Fodor's forum, when someone asked about restaurants around "Convent Garden".

"when someone asked about restaurants around "Convent Garden"."

Well, for most of its life, that's what it's been known as.

But there's no such excuse for calling a street "Liverpool" or "Gloucester", or calling a monument "Buckingham". If people say they want to go to Inverness, they've only got their lazy selves to blame if someone takes them at their word and sends them to Euston station.

This is why I chose it-thought it would be easy to get to Heathrow-
Grand Royale London Hyde Park is located in Paddington adjacent to Hyde Park and Notthing Hill whilst being surrounded by all the excitement of London's West End and where our guests can expect to. The newest luxury property in London is located close to major transport links and within easy reach of Heathrow Airport, making it an attractive proposition for frequent fliers and business travelers.

frenchwow-- As I mentioned on your other thread, this hotel is in - let's say a 'crappy' location for both ends of your journey. It is along way from St Pancras and not on a direct tube line.

And it is not in "Paddington", it is practically next to the Queensway tube station. It is too far to walk to Paddington and also not on a direct tube line.

It is hard to pick a place in central London that is inconvenient to BOTH St Pancras and to LHR - one or the other, sure, but not both. But that is what you have here.

A cab ride from the hotel to Paddington would not be too expensive, but added to the cost of the train to LHR this will be a costly journey.

That is why I suggested (on that other thread) to either pre-book a car service -- or change to a better located hotel.

<<< Grand Royale London Hyde Park is located in Paddington adjacent to Hyde Park and Notthing Hill whilst being surrounded by all the excitement of London's West End >>>

IT'S NOWHERE NEAR THE WEST END - let alone surrounded by the excitement of the West End. It's not even easy to get to the West End from there.

Whoever wrote that blurb is either an out and out liar or has never been within 1000 miles of London - or both.
