Two Days in Germany
My husband and I will be in Brussels for a few weeks for his work this summer. We have two weekends to travel. The first will be spent in Bruges, and the second I would love to get to the Rhine/Mosel area of Germany. Is this doable?
I am thinking we could take a 7:55 train from Brussels to Aachen (no connections), where we could rent a car and drive and see Burg Eltz, then head over to the Bacharach/St. Goar area. The second day, we'd like to tour Rheinfels Castle and perhaps take a short Rhine cruise (one hour) before heading back to Brussels.
Obviously this only gives us a sliver of this area, but we have to be back Sunday night. In your opinions, would this be a worthwhile weekend?

Sounds very doable. (I lived in Stuttgart for 2.5 years and the Mosel Valley is my favorite part of Germany.) I pretty much did the same thing with my husband, only we had one day in the Mosel and one day on the Rhine tacked onto the beginning and end of a trip to northern Germany. We stayed in Cochem and Oberwesel. If you can, splurge on the Hotel auf Schoenburg in Oberwesel. It is worth it!
