Villa Rosa Vs. Villa La Tartana in Positano
Hello! Which one of the above hotels would you recommend for a three day stay in Positano (they are owned by the same family and their prices are comparable)? We are in our late 20's and will be on our September honeymoon. Rosa is up on the hill and Tartana is down by the sea....so I guess the main question would be which is better up or down?
Thank-you for your time!

Anywhere you go in Positano you have to go either up or down; it's just a matter of preference of where you want to begin and end your day. I stayed at the VR last May,and the view was spectacular. If you're a real beach person, you may prefer the VLT; I don't think there is a "wrong" here.

Villa Rosa sans doubt........
We were there last year (Sept 10th)- got engaged on the beach. Amazing place. We were going to try the Tartana but they were full so they suggested the Villa Rosa. (You're correct, they are owned by the same family).
Villa Rosa is not far up the hill and the short hike is well worth it for the morning view. Places too close to the beach miss the views that give Positano it's magical quality. They don't have a dining room so instead they serve breakfast on your own private balcony!!!!!!!
We have photos if you want emailed to you?
For a romantic dinner you should try the Pallazo Murat on the way down to the beach. Pallazo Murat is a ritzy place to stay but we loved our dinner there. You will spend ~$120.00 with wine but will remember it forever.
Hi Amber,

I agree with Donal. I stayed at the Villa La Tartana last month and really enjoyed it, but no view of the town. I checked out Villa Rosa, and the view is outstanding. Please read my travelog of Positano, Amalfi, and Capri that I posted; just put the word "kiki" into the search box and it will pop up. I really enjoyed my trip and share alot of great tips!

Since you are on your honeymoon, I would strongly suggest going for a room with a view, like at Villa Rosa, and ask for Room # 18 - it and the view were "to die for", plus the rate was only about 130 Euro per nite.

A great find that I would like to share with you is the restaurant La Strada. It is new and was just wonderful. The chef came from Palazzo Murat, and the prices are about 1/2 that, but the ambiance and service were just fantastic. The restaurant is located just outside of Positano in Priano. You can read my full review and how to get there on the "kiki" thread

Congratulations and have a wonderful trip!
