Where and When can I find that awesome rate at London's Renaissance Chancery Court?
We're planning a trip to the UK. We'll be coming into London from Cardiff via train to Paddington Station. I was going to stay at the Hilton Paddington since it's convenient and we'll have a fifteen month old baby with us.
However, I keep reading excellent reviews on Renaissance Chancery Court. People rave about it plus they find these 99 GBP/night rates! I am looking for specials for March/April 2007 for 4 nights. At this time, rates are coming up 255 GBP+!! If I do a search on these message boards, many people have indicated they received extremely reasonable rates with a 2nd night half off even!
When will the spring discount rates come up?
If I contact the hotel directly, would they give me a lower rate? I called Renaissance's 800 number and the lady said she had no idea if there would be sales later.
Please help!

Hi Jamila, I don't think you should plan on a sale there for the spring -- that price was for late Aug/some of Sept and rates are back in full swing now through January, then they seemed to dip a bit, at least for early bookings made around Labor Day. I am always looking for London sales and was unaware that there is a regular period for "spring discount rates." If so, it's random and irregular. If you want to haunt the websites for a markdown, I tend to say "good luck" in a cynical way, because I have done that and usually don't hit it; on the other hand, I got the Cranley one time for 50 GBP, so I guess it's like gambling in Vegas or something.

They have a very good weekend rate. We are staying there in May and it is a Friday thru Monday stay....the rate is about 127 BP including full breakfast. So if your itinerary allows, the weekend rate is a great value.

There are often specials available on London hotels if you book only a few weeks or even a couple of months in advance - for example I recently booked my parents into the Millennium Hotel in Mayfair for only £80 per night (usual rate is at least double if not triple that price) - you will not get these rates direct from the hotel and have to use sites such as lastminute.com (use the 'Secret Hotels' feature)

I was able to get the 99 GBP rate in the middle of Aug. because we were staying at least 3 nights. I am a Marriott member and always check their web site first when looking for hotels. I stumbled on the rate when I was checking.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I have reserved 3 nights by using airlines mile certficates and the last night with a AAA rate which I got for GBP 121.00 plus VAT.
Birdie - any comments on this hotel. I have read raving reviews. Are all my efforts in booking this hotel worth it?

Yes,definitely worth it. We loved the hotel and the location. Do not do breakfast there. Its too expensive. Go to the Krispie Kreme down the block. Click on my name and read my trip report. There were so many restaurants within walking distance that we enjoyed. Let me know if you have any other questions.

How did you use airline miles certificates for your stay? I'm trying to get a good rate for this hotel as well...
When I put in AAA, I don't get as good a rate as their website "best rate" which is about 155 GBP. But then, I'm looking for next June.
