Where to Stay?

I am going to Spain this summer. I am only going for a week because of my schedule but am curious about where to stay once I get there. My plans are to fly into Madrid from London and ride a bus to Granada. My only real plan is to visit the Alambra, but I will need somewhere to stay the nights. So, if anyone knows of anywhere cheap, motel or youth hostel, please reply this message and let me know. If there is anything else of interest I can doing in Granada after I have had my fill of the Alambra, please include that as well.
BUT PLEASE, someone help me out with my living arrangements. My main focus is finding out how much youth hostels will cost and how I can find their locations. If there is a web-site designed to answer these questions, please include it as well.
Thank you all very much.

Since it is yout first time ever to post a question on the forum - - how did I know that? click on your name (this is a useful to re-locate your own posts, later on), let me do what Fodor's did not do when they registered you here on the forum, and recommend that you read the FAQs (see the little red "HELP", upper lefthand corner?)

You'll find there, among other things the advice that your message header should refer to yor destination whenever applicable. Folks knowledgeable about Spain have no clue that you want info on Madrid and Granada.

Three resources that will likely help you are:

www.venere.com for hotels all over Europe

www.parador.es - - for the unique collection of historic lodging they cover (including right in/on the grounds of the Alhambra)

and

www.madridman.com - - advice of every stripe on Spain; not just for Madrid.

Others will have additional helpful info for you - - but ideally, when and if you RE-post your question(s) with a message header referencing Spain.

Welcome to Travel Talk.

Best wishes,

Rex

What's not in the FAQs, but ought to be, is a recommendation to post questions about hostels on the Western Europe branch of the Thorn Tree site.

Posters on that site talk of little else. Some of us on this site might just have remembered what a place on the roof at the Athens youth hostel used to cost in the mid-60s, if the booze and dementia hadn't got to us first. Most of the rest of us lack even that passing acquaintance with hostels.

I think the web site www.hostels.com is very comprehensive and includes seven hostels in Granada. You can even reserve on there, it appears.

I haven't been in Granada so can't make personal recommendations, but I bet there is some general information on Granada sites online. I think this site is a good one, and also includes hotel info:

Bringing your message back up "to the top" ("topping&quot - - since if you never saw my reply, you may not know how to find it again!
