Where to stay in/near Menton, France

We are spending a few days in Provence at the end of June and then will go to Tuscany after that. We will be dropping our French rental car in Menton prior to boarding the train to Tuscany. We will spend the night before somewhere close by therefore. Any good suggestions? It will be our only chance to stay on or near the Riviera.

Why not drop your car off in Nice and take the train from there? That would give you a chance to see one of the special cities on the Riviera.

Look into staying in Eze, which is the most picturesque town on that part of the coast. You'd have to drive a half-hour or so to Menton to drop off your car and catch the train.

Menton is pleasant enough, however, with a lot of delicious seafood restaurants right on the Mediterranean.

Have to agree with underhill. Drop in nice then in one day take a train to menton. Stop off in monty carlo for a few hours maybe. The views you get on the train are spetacular indeed. Worth taking the time for sure. http://www.hotel-france-hotels.com/p...nton/cemetery/ a bit macrbre perhaps but .. this is on picture of the mopuntains if you can imagine the panorama it opens out to the incredible blue seas of the med and then back to these splendid moutains again.

ONce done never forgoton.

We have stayed at both the Hotel Riva and the Princess and Richmond (next door to each other) and both have great amenities and are good values. Hope this helps.

Yorkyman,

Thanks for the tip about the cemetery in Menton. We enjoy looking at old burial grounds and will put this on our list for October.

BTW, there's another good one on the route from Cagnes-sur-Mer up to St-Paul-de-Vence.
