Zurich and Interlaken for x 1 week. 8 day train passes? What to do in Interlaken?

Me and my family (4 of us will need be traveling) will be in Zurich for 3 days in July, then Interlaken for 4 days. We’ve got train tix up to Jungfraufjoch. For the rest of the time, should we buy 8 day rail passes? It’s kind of expensive but we’ll need to travel to and from the airport, and Zurich to and from Interlaken. Also, is the a trip from Interlaken up a small mountain, with hot springs to dip in?

thanks!!
maureen

What to do in Interlaken? Avoid it!

Stay further up in a beautiful alpine village - Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen or Murren.

Train tix which we’ve purchased

We have the tix from
interlaken up to jungfraujoch. We’ll need tix for a few days in Zurich, to travel to and from Interlaken, and around Interlaken.

If you plan to stay just in and around Zurich during 3 days, the Zurich Card may do it https://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/travelcard...erichcard.html
But if you want to explore Switzerland in day trips from Zurich, check the Swiss Travel Pass or the Swiss half Fare Card.
For Interlaken, you may check the Bernese Oberland Pass for 3 days
https://www.regionalpass-berneroberland.ch/en/
may be combinded with the Swiss Half Fare Card.

I agree with Melnq8!
Don’t stay in Interlacken , a transit hub, rather go into the mountains to stay in Grindelwald, or Wengen and have a beautiful, scenery filled experience.

Thank you for your reply! My son lives in Zurich so he’ll check out options to travel to Interlaken.

So you will have no problem!
There is basically a scenic (and less expensive) itinerary via Lucerne and a less scenic but faster itinerary via Bern.
The Bernese Oberland Pass is valid from both, Lucerne and Berne, up to Jungfrau area, Brig and Pays d'Enhaut
