Another way to help. this info posted on TA forum from friend of Cindy and Lee Banks (owners of Peace Lodge and Waterfall Gardens):
"Extensive damage within a 15km radius of the property. Despite rumors to the contrary, the Peace Lodge are standing. In fact, not one building was structurally compromised and more importantly, NOT ONE LIFE WAS LOST on the grounds of La Paz Waterfall Gardens and the Peace Lodge. The surrounding communities, the town of Cinchona, next from La Paz, was the hardest hit. They are still finding people in homes and cars who did not make it. Contrary to news reports, the death toll is closer to 60 at the moment. Many of the employees live in this area, many of them have lost family members and their homes. For those interested, we have set up an account for donations. The La Paz Earthquake Community Relief, under the direction of Lee Banks, will allocate funds to those in the area that need to build (or rebuild) their homes. We will maintain an accounting of the use of these funds on the website along with photos of the reconstruction.

Checks made out to:

"La Paz Earthquake Community Relief"

c/o Cindy Banks,

1807 SE 14th Street

Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316

"Without the support of these communities, La Paz Waterfall Gardens and the Peace Lodge would not be what it is today.

We will have a link on our website (www.waterfallgardens.com) later this week and you will see that not one building was structurally compromised. You will also be happy to know that all of the animals are accounted for and doing fine. We are continuing the feeding and caring program for all of them. One cat had escaped, but was found and is back in her 'home' There are stairways and railings and trails to be repaired, plates and mirrors and televisions. But all in all, we are okay. We plan to reopen in three months.

As of Wednesday, January 14, 2009 the road from Vara Blanca to La Paz has been cleared and partial electricity has been restored to the property."

So there we go, Tully. I am feeling more and more hopeful that our friend, Hunter, is alive and well and enjoying as we speak one of his many lives!

Just me, I'll feel more comfortable contributing to the OTS fund at Duke University. Good to have this information as it will make it easier for many people who aren't comfortable with the wire transfer.
The one time I did that, it was clear that my relatively rural bank was not accustomed to it. It took awhile.

I hope one day we will hear about Hunter, shillmac, I really do.

Thanks for the OTS info, seems the easiest and safest, they are a great organization to begin with so makes good sense.
