Advice on a beach town!
I'm traveling to Guanacaste on April with 5 other women for a week. We plan on renting a car and would like to stay in a place that's centralized for day trips. For our day trips, we're thinking of zip-lining in the rainforests, etc. We're not huge on the party scene, but do enjoy a few nights at the bars.
We decided to avoid Tamarindo since we heard it was so Americanized. We thought about Playa Coco but it doesn't seem like a good place to wake up and head to the beach to lay out. Does anyone have any good advice on which town to stay?
Also, we're leaning towards renting a house/condo since there are 6 of us and it seems like the cheaper deal. Is that safe/advisable? Any recommendations on rentals would be greatly appreciate!!

Well, it's also very Americanized, but the beach at Playa Flamingo is excellent and the location is perfect to be able to explore to the north and to the south. We like Flamingo Beach Resort for its proximity to the beach, great pool, decent rooms. Food isn't much (although we've liked the pool bar luncheon menu), but there are a LOT of great restaurants nearby. Marie's there in Flamingo, Mar y Sol, also in Flamingo; Camaron Dorado in Brasilito, and too many great places to count in Tamarindo.
To the north, El Castillo in Potrero for breakfast or lunch; Ginger in Playa Hermosa (you can get there through the country from Potrero and save a ton of time. Need a 4X4. . .
Good luck and hope this helps!
You might also consider Bahia del Sol in Playa Potrero. . .

Forgot to mention a fun little beauty salon there at Flamingo Beach Resort--you girls would like it. Carolina gives great massages and her husband Chris is a stylist. I always work in an appt or two while there. Very nice French couple.

6 ladies getting ready to tear up the coast line. Well, i do like the Papagayo gulf area, which is basically all the beaches north from Playa del Coco. Coco is a nice town which is popular and has the night life.

Playa Conchal is made up of sea shells instead of sand which is really unique
Here is a map of the country so you can see where all of thes beaches are located.

I think it is nice to travel and see more than one place especially because there are so many! If you have a rental, i say explore ladies!
