Airport Transportation

What is the best way to get to Playa del Carmen (hotel) from the airport? My hotel does not provide transportation- I am staying downtown.

I guess I'm cheap, we take the Riviera bus. Leaves right from the airport and makes no stops until downtown Playa del Carmen. Costs about $7.00 each way. Leaves about every hour.

Jean the bus sounds great, but I'm not sure where the busstop is in town, and lugging my luggage to a hotel or condo in town just sounds like too much after a long hot flight...do you get a taxi at the bus stop?
Thanks for the info.

If you take the bus to town it leaves you off on 5th ave and Juarez. You can always take a taxi to the hotel if you don't feel like walking. Definitely less expensive than other types of transport - the price did recently go up to $8USD. The ride takes about 40 min. The bus is air conditioned, has seat belts and you can put your luggage underneath - the driver will do this for you. We've used a lot of different types of transport to PDC the past few years and this is the only way I'll go now.

La Tortuga is at avenida 10 and calle 14 which is one block west of 5th and about 7 blocks north. The taxi should cost about 17 pesos or around $2.

The bus systems in Mexico are very good. I recommend taking the bus to Playa del Carmen. You will really enjoy the beauty there! It is one or our favorite places!
