Best All Inclusive in Puerto Vallarta/Nuevo Vallarta

Looking for some suggestions from folks who have had first hand experience with AI resorts in PV. We are willing to stay in Nuevo Vallarta if it means saving some $$.
Also, what is teh cab far from the airport to Nuevo Vallarta? What about from Nuevo to down town?

Thanks.

try trip advisor.com I have been on this site and the only ALL iNCLUSIVE reviews that seem to be consistent are the Occidental Hotel in Nuevo Vallarta. However if you want to be in Puerto Vallarta I would suggest checking out the food plans on some of the better hotels. If I'm not mistaken the Fiesta Americana and The Camino Real have an all inclusive pkg. I personally do not recommend any all inclusive I think you miss out on so much by not dining out in the restaurants. There are so many that are not expensive and you can really get a feel of the town when you dine there.
Good Luck!!!

The best PV area all inclusives, hands down, are Las Alamandas and Majahuitas, both of which are not in PV proper. Majahuitas is just south of PV and Las Alamandas is about 45 minutes south of PV. There are pictures of both of these resorts at differentworld.com. That said, however, these resorts are not a way to "save money." If you want to save money in PV, you don't have to go all inclusive. As butsey said, there are plenty of inexpensive places to eat in PV.

The cheapest places to stay are right in downtown PV, not out in Nuevo (unless you have some amazing package deal I don't know about). Having said that, I wouldn't recommend the AI's in Old Town, but an independent 3-star hotel paired with all the great inexpensive and medium priced restaurants.

I guess I could have more clearly said that "best" and "saving some $$" are a bit contradictory, and I'm not sure which is more important to you.

Thanks all. Ok, my bad....I need to add that I can get a great deal on an AI in Nuevo Vallarta. AI will make it a little easier for us since we are taking out 2 year old daughter. So, your right, best and saving $$ don't go hand in hand. How about best AI for the buck?

Thanks again!

Also ask this question over on www.puertovallarta.net and go to their Bulletin Board. It's a commercial PV site but the BB has lots of active posters who are familiar with Nuevo and the various resorts. Crown Paradise (I think it is) seems to be a favorite with several people there.

I'm guessing cab fare might be ~$30USD since it's about 1/2 hour ride (ask the hotel this quesion, they'll know since taxis leaving the airport grounds are "regulated" and have pretty much set prices to get to the various zones).
