Buenos Aires to Mendoza ?

John,<BR>First of all, thanks for your great contributions to this forum. You have been a good friend to all of us Argentinians.<BR>But about the train from Buenos Aires to Mendoza, I think it no longer runs. What most of us do to avoid flying when going to Mendoza is to take a sleeping bus, which is very comfortable, and the cost is around 140 argentine pesos. Airfares to Mendoza are very reasonable too, as the route has a lot of traffic. Please e-mail me for more info. I'll be glad to help you.

Marta:<BR><BR>Thank you for the compliment! <BR><BR>There's not a day that goes by where I don't think about my next trip to your beautiful city and dream of having a cafe con leche at Cafe Tortoni on Avenida de Mayo after shopping on Calle Florida or having a glass of champagne in Puerto Madero or debating what cafe to lunch at in Recoleta or Palermo.<BR><BR>Given the distance from BA to Mendoza and transportation issues, I think I'll probably stick to my plan on spending a few days in Carmelo, Uruguay again. The Four Seasons resort there is so peaceful, a wonderful place to recuperate after partying the nights away in BA!<BR><BR>I'll contact you directly to see if you can get better rates at the Four Seasons in BA and Carmelo than what is posted on the website. <BR><BR>Ciau!<BR>John<BR>

John, I've enjoyed very much my trips to Mendoza. What I enjoyed the most was staying in La Cumbre, Cordoba, half-way between Bs. As. and Mendoza. A luxury bus will take you there from Retiro. There're several small towns along Rt 38 that will entice your desire to marvel at the natural settings in the heart of the Sierras where you will admire with awe at the Ongamira National Park, for example. You may wish to stay in town watching the view while sipping a bubbly libation until "el tren de las Sierras arrives at the station to take you
