Costa Rica - Arenal and Guanacaste Itinerary Recommendations

We are traveling to CR in June and plan to split our week between the Arenal region and Guanacaste. As of now, our plan is to spend the first 4 nights @ Tabacon and the last 3 nights at the JW Marriott in Guanacaste. Our plans are totally flexible/changeable, however we are flying into San Jose and out of Liberia.

Please provide any itinerary suggestions (hotels, tours, transfers, restaurants) that you think might be helpful. Our goal is to plan an exciting/active/adventure few days to be followed by a few days of relaxation.

Thanks!

Are you doing any extra activities in Tabacon? In the Arenal area you can find many tours to do, adventure, like zip lining for example.
In Guanacaste you can also find many tours to do, most of the tour operators will pick you up at your hotel. I did a one day tour, with Rancho Humo (www.ranchohumo.com), this is a protected and nature conservancy reserve, they have different tours, thru Tempisque river, a birds island, stuff like that, a real contact with nature.
I like it, but it depends on your preferences.

We love the Arenal area; it has loads of adventure activities and some good restaurants. Some of the most popular activities are ziplining with Sky Trek, doing the Cano Negro tour to see wildlife, rafting with Rios Tropicales, hiking the waterfall and swimming at the base, hiking the Hanging Bridges, doing a volcano hike, and enjoying the natural hot springs. Sunset Tours and Desafio are good tour companies in the area. Some restaurants we like - Don Rufino, La Choza de Laurel, El Novillo, and Soda la Parada.
