Distance from Puetro Vallarta to Mexico City?
Trying to book at flight into Puerto Vallarta....but everything is very expensive. Flying into Mexico City would be cheaper....what is the drive time between the two cities?

a quick google search says 553 miles. But driving in Mexico ain't like driving down Route 95 in the US.
Google also tells me that the "luxury bus" takes 14 hours between PV and Mexico City. That Mexican car insurance is required. I already know that gasoline is expensive. Can't even imagine what the car rental would be.

depending on the season , rental cars are between 50 - 80 usd including 200 km
A trip from mexico city to PV will take about 10 hours , roads are perfect if you take the toll roads , problem is finding your way out of mexico city , this can take an hour or 3 depending on the time of the day , If you are more than 2 persons and save several hundreds
of dollars do it , you can visit , if you have more than a week , a few interesting places between the 2 cities.

I just bought a ticket Seattle/PV yesterday. Plane tickets are expensive right now, plain and simple. I use Expedia first to research all the possible suspects, then go to each carrier's individual websites and research some more. Then purchase directly from the airline.

rather than another airport in Mexico, have you considered another airport in Florida? But truthfully, airfares are simpy expensive right now. I bought my tickets for Nov to CR just two weeks ago. The price today is 25% higher.

That's a good thought about looking into using a different US airport, if possible.
I really don't think driving in from the DF or Guadalajara is practical if Puerto Vallarta is really where you want to be.

I would agree with suze and most others: unless you want to spend a few days in MEX on both ends of the trip (recommended if you have the time and budget), fly in/out of PV.
Primera Plus (1st class bus) has 2 daily departures from PV to MEX Norte - the 1st (12:15 - 06:20) has 13 stops and the more reasonable (19:00 - 07:30) with 2 stops. Fare is $786. MXN. www.primeraplus.com.mx
We drove SMdA-Barra de Navidad, Jalisco and rt at Christmas via GDL - 9 hours each way on the Autopistas/$120.US rt tolls.
Auto rentals are expensive, but gas looks fairly reasonable by current US and world standards - my last tank was about $2.68 US a US gallon for 92 octane premium. I'll fill again on Friday and give an update if it's much different.
Buen viaje.
