Driving from San Diego, CA to Los Cabos, Mexico
Has anyone made the drive from San Diego, CA to Los Cabos, Mexico? How long does it take? Can you rent a car and drive it across the border? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Oscar

I would highly recommend reading this article. It is very helpful. The trip from TJ to Cabo will take about 2-3 days. Make sure you rent the car in TJ (not in the US, as it is not permitted by Mexico). There are areas where cells phones will not work. Make sure you have the correct insurance - and sometimes if you are in an accident you can be arrested and taken to jail until the cause is sorted out.

It's a long drive over a lot of long, undeveloped stretches. Most of the people I know who do it enjoy roughing it and camping on the beach and stuff like that. It can be a stretch to drive from nice hotel to nice hotel, especially if you are stopping to enjoy the sites.

No you can't take rental cars over the border. Is there some specific reason you want to drive? It's a short flight San Diego (or LAX) into Cabo. I love Cabo San Lucas but I most definitely wouldn't want to drive the length of the Baja to get there.
