Driving times?

Could someone give me the approx driving time from the Belize Zoo to Belmopan, down the Hummingbird Highway and back to the zoo? Could it be done in 4+ hours with a few brief stops for picture taking, etc?

We'd really like to spend our first day by spending a couple of hours at the zoo (thinking of spending the first night at the jungle lodge there at the zoo) and then a drive down the Hummingbird Highway and back before going to AC later in the afternoon, just wondering if this is doable?

Zoo to Belmopan is about 30 mins. Belmopan to Dangriga about an hr each way. Belmopan back to Belize City is about an hr. You can catch the kast 5:30pm flight back to ambergris.

Thanks for the reply, that's very helpful.

Looking at the map I have of Belize it looks like to get back to Belize City from Dangriga it would be quicker to take the road that goes by Gales Point, rather than driving back on Hummingbird Highway?

The Coastal road is not paved, very bumpy and some rental agencies wont allow their cars on that road. Take the Hummingbird.
