first timer seeks plans Feb.'13 trip to Belize
My wife and I (senior citizens with young minds and still somewhat energized) would like to plan a trip to Belize in Jan. '13 and wanting suggestions and tips. Thinking about purchase of a house as a 2nd. home possibly. We seek inexpensive to moderate accommodations
as well as recommendations for rental car. We love to cook and eat so appreciate all foods.Would love to hear from anyone living in Belize permanently or part time. drlkb2

Century21 seems to have dozdens of homes under listing around Belize City, Hopkins, etc. You do know your access to quality to medical highly trained medical treatment is limited as opposed to Costa Rica within 1 hour of San Jose.

I own a condo and live on Ambergris Caye part time. We love it. Lots of property for sale on the island, I assume elsewhere in Belize as well.
Stan is correct, there is not great medical care in Belize. Medical evacuation insurance is a must have. On the other hand, thousands of people in the US live where there isn't good medical care available with a reasonable distance.
How long will you be in Belize? What type of area are you considering?

It depends as to what you're interested in doing in Belize. There are many options. Here is the website that lets you know about the destinations and things you can do. There is even a vacation planner that ca help you plan your stay here.http://www.travelbelize.org/. As per buying a home here, there are a million option...again it would depend as to where you'd like to buy one. I'm sure you'd love it in Belize!
