Hangliding in Rio

Has anyone ever tried to hanglide in Rio? If so, can you recommend an agency where I can book such activity?

Iīve never done it, but I can answer your question: you donīt have to do any booking, go straight to what we call Rampa in a place called Pedra da Gávea, wich is the best and most beautiful place to hangglide here. The ride costs about 350 reais, or about 140 us dollars, and you will be able to see an astonishing postcard of Rio!

The place that she is talking about starts in Sao Conrado, this is where the hang gliders land. The place is called praia do peppino but it is at the end of Sao Conrado beach, the mountain she is talking about is right above this area. From Copacabana it is about 15 minutes or 20 by taxi and not far from the Intercontinental hotel. If you go there you will see many people taking reservations and then you get in a mini bus for the ride up the mountain then jump off the mountain and land where you started her in praia do peppino

The place where everyone goes Hang Gliding is called Pedra da Gavea which is in Sao Conrado. I would avoid just showing up, as you will fly with pilots who are not as good and are inexperienced. They are just sitting around waiting for people to show up.

If you book a hang gliding tour, it includes transport, registration and entry into the park. Normally a package goes for R$240. So please do NOT pay R$340 which was previously mentioned. That is ridiculous.

BUt I do agree that it is an awesome activity and one of the best places in the world to do it.

Have Fun!
