Has anyone gone to Bosque del Cabo and Flamingo Beach in the same trip?

I'm sitting here on this snowy night dreaming of Costa Rica and a February 2012 week long trip. We've been to Manuel Antonio and Arenal before, so we'd like to visit another area in beautiful CR. I really want to go to the Osa and BDC, but also love the thought of relaxing on the beach for a few days and Flamingo Beach Resort looks perfect. I know it's not the ideal pairing, but do you think it would still work? If not, any other suggestions? I was hoping to work with a budget of $3500 for 2 people. Thanks so much!!

I'm sure that could work if you fly between them, but also wonder why you'd pick a beach that far from the Osa rather than, say, a place in the Ojochal-Uvita-Dominical-Quepos area or Villas Caletas.

We stayed at BdC for three nights once, and then flew from PJ to SJO, and from SJO to Tamarindo -- and stayed in Brasilito for five nights (which is about 10 minutes south of Flamingo). So, it can be done. It was a good pairing -- but I might do the Flamingo area first, I think. Most places can't really measure up to the Osa (and BdC), so I would go there second if I were to do it over.

We do it every year. Love the combination. One is adventure, the other is all about beach time, pool time, restaurants, and relaxing (next to the pool bar).

You can end your trip with the awesome adventure offered by BdC, or with the beach chill of Flamingo, your choice!

Thanks so much for the replies everyone!! TFC, when we went to CR last time, we spent a day at Jaco and the Quepos area so I'd like to go North this time.

Plumboy, did you like Brasilito? Do you have to fly from the Oso to SJO then to Tamarindo? I definitely need to do more research.

Shillmac, how long is the flight between the two places and where do you fly in and out of? I'm so glad you love the combo! I'll have to click on your name to see if you did a trip report!

Yeah, we liked Brasilito a lot, but it may not be for everyone. Just found it to be a great little spot. The beach right there isn't great, but right next door (a quick walk) at Playa Conchal, it's divine. But, I think you'll like Flamingo Beach also -- it's just up the road.

Yes, we flew from PJ to SJO -- and then caught another plane from SJO to Tamarindo. Actually, our flight from SJO was canceled and we had to boogie it over to the Pavas airport to catch at Nature Air flight, but it all worked out somehow.

Love Playa Flamingo and Playa Conchal. The shell beach at Conchal is awesome.

We've never flown between the two, but yes, reconnect through San Jose. Very simple. Check out www.natureair.com as well as www.flysansa.com for flight information.

Flights SJO to Puerto Jimenez (Osa) are about an hour. SJO to Tamarindo about 30-40 min.

Thank you plumboy and shillmac!! Does look pretty easy and I love the thought of visiting these two areas together! Do you have any room recommendations at BdC? I figure since I'm so early I can probably get the room of my choice. Thanks again!!

Plumboy, I just read that you loved the Congo, which looks like it has the best view. Does Mariposa have the same view? I'd much rather have the spectacular view over the beautiful cabina.
Thanks again!

Well, according to tully, who just got back from BdC recently (and who originally turned me on to Congo), Pizote now has the best view -- but, yes, the Congo view is spectacular. It seemed surreal when we first stepped out onto the deck.

Yes, I just read tully's post about Pizote. Glad to know there are a couple of cabinas with incredible views. So wishing this trip was for this February!
