Hotels don't respond
My family is planning a trip to Costa Rica this summer. I have emailed several hotels and only one has responded. They will not take reservations over the phone.
What is the best way to make reservations?
I cannot find a phone number for Los Lagos.
Can anyone help

I booked Los Lagos by email ([email protected]) and got confirmation. I've heard from at least a few people that responded to my emails that email service in Costa Rica is horrible and that if I don't hear back from them in a couple days I should try again. I made all our reservations by email. I guess you just have to be patient.
Good luck.
Good luck.

nancygol - I have just completed reservations for our upcoming trip. And yes, sometimes it is days before you hear anything. The longest for me was a week.
Do send a follow up email, stating that it is a 2nd request, because email does seem to disappear between here and CR.
As many in this forum know, I have always relied on a professional to actually book our trip. This year I got brave and Yes, I did it! It took a great deal of patience, which I am increasingly short of!
Good luck! And have a great trip.

Hi Nancy,
I recently made reservations using email for our first and last nights in San Jose. The first night res. at Orchideas Inn went very well, about 3 emails back and forth and it was done. The last night res. at Peace Lodge in La paz, they didn't respond to the first email so I called them a week or so later and then started email correspondence and were confirmed a couple days later. Don't give up just keep trying.

I had quick responses from the smaller, non travel-agent promoted, hotels. Tabacon took a week to tell us they had no space. Las Orquideas is the only place that never responded at all. I tried email several times, and finally sent a fax. (and I am fluent in Spanish) Zero response.
