How bad is the rain in Manuel Antonio in October?

I asked this question at the end of another post...but figured I'd start a post with it.

We are considering, for our mid-late October honeymoon, a few nights in Manuel Antonio. We want to get a better idea about the rain there...how bad is it? We want to be able to enjoy all that the area has to offer...but don't want to be rained on the whole time. If you have had any personal experience...please give me your thoughts. Also...is everything open in that area in October? Thanks!

I was there in October for my honeymoon years ago ... It would usually rain as we slept , then sometimes an afternoon downpour . It did not impede our vacation in any way . This last year was extremely rainy though , so I think it's a case of " You never know ..."

October is always the rainiest month everywhere in Costa Rica (except on the Caribbean coast, where it's the driest month). Last year was especially wet and it did rain for days at a time without stopping. The long-range prediction is that 2006 will be similar. As the previous poster said, you never know.

I read a funny quote in a WSJ article about Arenal and the many cloudy days there; Tourist: "Does it always rain this much here?" Desk Clerk: "No, it usually rains a lot more!"
Seriously, we have visited in Oct as well and our experience was more like Faithie's - the rain was no big deal and on some hot afternoons was most welcome!
Don't worry too much about the weather - there is really no bad time to visit CR.
Good luck and have fun
