Yes and no. As falls go they are fairly similar columnar waterfalls with pools at the bottom in ravines in the rainforest. As far as improvements, they are quite different. La Paz can be accessed by a stairway and highway while La Fortuna is hike in (relatively short but rather steep slippery trail down). We swam in the pool below Fortuna, but the steep sides and number of onlookers pretty much prevent that at La Paz. Both beautiful and fun to see.
