Maroma Rooming Question

My girlfriend and I will be staying at Maroma Resort in the Riviera Maya in late June. Can anyone suggest to us the best room-type/location to get? Right now we are booked for the basic garden view. Is the ocean view worth it?

I always look at it this way...

We traveled all the way and looked forward to a caribbean vacation. We did not come all this way to look at a pool/garden. The money it costs for the better view is not a life changing amount, so we go for it. You spend more time in your room than you think. So you have to decide on what you want to look at...the ocean or the pool.
I'm sure terrible rooms do not exist at Maroma, but having that view and beach access is wonderful and that is what you pay for.

We have not been to Maroma yet, but we are going in Nov in an Ocean Front...so my answer is yes it is worth it. We have been to many resorts throughout the caribbean with similar accommodation choices and we always choose the beach front accommodations and always glad we did.

I guess I take the exact opposite view of Annabel. Whenever I travel, I use the room to sleep, shower, and change clothes. I never pay for an oceanview because I don't sit in the room - I sit at the pool, on the beach, etc. Now, I travel solo, so romantic-type ideals of a oceanview do not play into my decision-making.

When you know what you want out of your room, you'll know whether an upgrade is "worth" it.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I think since money is not an object, we will go with the ocean view. This is a special trip for us.
Thanks again!
