totoannsmith,

If you haven't yet, I encourage you to go instead to the Puerto Vallarta forum over at Trip Advisor. Also the hotel reviews section. You will find a diverse and experienced group of posters who know PV like the back of their hand over there.

I don't necessarily think the San Marino is right for this family, I think the original poster needs to be more clear about what they need. If that is upscale amenities, then nothing on the south side will work. If it's AI they want, mid resort feel, then the Crown Paradise has a great kids waterpark for little ones and it's close to the marina for shops, restaurants, etc. but their AI is good. The Melia for more amenities is also great for little ones with a Flinstone themed kids area. Velas Vallarta is a very upper scale resort in the marina with all amenities needed.
However the OP needs to come back with some wants.
If you go over to trip advisor and ask for a recommendation, soooooo many will recommend the Playa los Arcos no matter what you want. They never want anyone to leave the south side over there.

<They never want anyone to leave the south side over there.>

That is absolutely NOT true.

I know you can't post on TA any more, maried11, but there are lots of recommendations every week for families for resorts in the Hotel Zone. Exactly the ones you just mentioned... Melia, GCP, Velas Vallarta, plus Secrets/Now Amber, Sunset Plaza, Buenaventura, Sheraton, etc.

Suze, I can if I apologize (refuse to do). It is absolutely true that no matter what people post, there are sooo many people who don't believe in AI, hotel zone, Nuevo (and lead people to believe it is awful). It is not a balanced forum and it is lead by one "clique". I know you are not that way and get attacked as well, but it is the case. Just my experience from more than 10 years on that forum, 20 in PV, etc. Cheers

Apologize for what? I never knew why you got kicked off TA.

IMO you aren't seeing it from a balanced perspective. There are plenty of posters who know about and regularly post their positive experiences with All-Inclusives, Hotel Zone hotels and resorts, and pretty much everyone agrees the "best beaches" are those out in Nuevo.

JR (cabron), you don't know why so you shouldn't speak, just go back to advertising your site.
And suze I need to apologize for not following the order to not reply back to a certai clique and stay out of arguments about things. It's hard when on me group gangs up on another and constantly complains and reports (and suze, I know you know what I mean). Won't happen as I think there is so much wrong over there.
Anyway, my opinions are still just as valid and in this particular subject I have much knowledge and first hand experience

Of course, I know exactly what you mean. But I won't let a gang of bullies drive me off a forum I like about a place I love. When you leave, they win.

You have much more tolerance and patience than me then Anyway, this shouldn't derail this topic.
Hopefully the OP comes back and gives more wants to help them out.

When we helped this same poster last year (with a Cabo question) she never came back again.

Hopefully this time she will.

That is absolutely not true JR!!! An absolute lie. I never even posted where I lived or worked until some in your group searched it out and found me. Unbelievable! Please leave me alone, I want nothing to do with you.

Also, one in your group made a fake profile to try and entrap me to get a client. I told them to call their nearest travel agent, that person was in Victoria, BC. That is how low people in your "clique" stooped!
Again, this topic should not be derailed, just stop!

Don't feel bad maried11, that same little group hates me too. I have no idea why.

Well now we know the truth about the TA forums for PV.

Not so peaches and cream after all.

To the OP, if you want a nice beach family friendly I'd look elsewhere.

And the weather in PV is pretty horrible most of the year, just too humid for normal people.

"They mentioned 'upscale' and 'ammenities' " in the post the OP only mentioned what their idea of what the Marina is like, never said they were looking for that.

"never said they were looking for that"

Uh, yes they did JR:

"The marina area sounded like it was maybe upscale and had ALL THE AMENITIES WE WOULD WANT"

<<And the weather in PV is pretty horrible most of the year, just too humid for normal people.>>

What? The two times I've visited, the weather was perfect for a beach trip.
