"Senior Frogs" in Cancun.
What do you know about this club/restaurant? Is it appropriate for teens ages 14 -16? We've been told it is a fun place we can take our girls. They like to dance. Is this place for them...are there any "safe", fun places for them to go in Cancun?

If I were you I would be reading the post concerning Senior Frog's where a 34 year old US tour operator was beaten at this establishment. I would be very concerned with your daughter's safety while in Mexico. I have heard and read a number of posts where there have been some very unfortunate incidents involving young girls. You must be vigilant in watching over them. I love Mexico to visit but am appalled with the incidents which have occurred recently in the tourist areas of this beautiful country. When the majority of Mexico relies heavily on the tourist industry I can only question why there is not more an honest police or state intervention in the incidents which do occur. Seems as though they don't care!

Mary, don't even concern yourself with that last posting. This alleged incident happened a while back. Bad things happen everywhere you go. I don't think I would let them wonder around at night by themselves or go into a club alone. However, Senor Frogs is not considered a club. Just a fun crazy tourist place and I am sure the girls will have a blast.

Aah, It's driving me crazy!
First of all, it's SENOR Frog's, not Senior Frogs. (Ha ha, old frogs)
Secondly, it's a bar first, a restaurant second.
If you are comfortable sending kids into a bar alone, go for it.
I've been in Senor Frog's in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel for years, and never have seen anything other than a bunch of people having a good time.
While I feel sorry for the person who was injured, we don't know what HE may have been up to. We don't know for sure that he was just an innocent bystander any more than we know what really happened.
If you are going to go with your girls, you will all have a great time and a lot of fun. They play music people of all ages can dance to, and there's a lot to see.
(Just go have fun and don't be surprised if you get a lot of eyeball rolling from your girls.)
If they go alone, they WILL get a lot of attention from the waiters - and probably American men in their 40's on "fishing trips." Not many locals hang out there. (I don't blame them, it gets obnoxious.)
Have fun!

Mary, a decent place to visit for an evening is La Isla mall. There are TOO MANY shops and stuff, but it seems to be a place where alot of teenagers congregate. There is a 1-hour Mayan adventure thing that my 12 and 16 year old really enjoyed. There is also a haunted house of some kind that I hear is pretty good. It's a good way to spend an evening, with a few inexpensive restaurants, including Johnny Rockets.

Actually, it's Señor Frogs!
And, it's a very fun restaurant/bar to go to. Note: It is a restaurant first, bar second, but it's a very alcohol-friendly restaurant. I first went there when I was 16 with my family. I probably would go with them (which is what what I presume you're planning on doing from your post), but I wouldn't really worry about it too much if they were there by themselves, as long as they're responsible... They can't get in too much trouble there, it's not really a club. Of course they'll probably be FUBAR by the time they leave! ;-)

Have you been to their website yet?
http://www.srfrogs.com/
