From all the research I've done through this website and others, definitely Cozumel. Akumal, further south of PDC is supposed to have some good snorkeling, but responders to my messages say it doesn't compare with Cozumel. Go to CozumelmyCozumel.com and they tell you lots of places along the west coast of the island where there's great snorkeling off shore---have to swim out 50-150 yards. Many of the places are the same a dive boat would take you to. Some reefs like Columbia, etc., are only accessible by dive boat they say. We're going to Cozumel in Sept. and looking forward to mostly snorkeling. We were pondering your same question months ago---PDC or Cozumel. They say if it's an "iron" shore, then it's good snorkeling; if it's a nice sandy beach, then not good snorkeling. The research and message boards helped me come to the conclusion that Coz. is the place to be if snorkeling is at the top of your list. We'll take a ferry to the mainland a couple of days to tour and explore the coastline. Good luck and have fun!

My experience says that is better to stay at an all inclusvie in PDC Try the Bahia Principe that has the reef just in front of the hotel ans you do not have to take a tour or get out of the all inclusive propertie. Do not forget to visit some ruins. Check www.graylinecancun.com

Hi

The snorkelling we did at Cozumel was amazing...so my vote goes to Cozumel. I have posted a trip report with pictures from our trip to Mexico on my homepage by the way. Maybe you can find some useful information there
