Waterproof hiking boots necessary?
Hello - all the postings here have immensely helped me plan my trip to Costa Rica for October; however, I was wondering if waterproof hiking boots are a necessity for the rainy season?
Thanks!
Thanks!

In October, they sure wouldn't hurt! Probably not a necessity, but if you have them, I'd take them along. Even though mornings will most likely be rain-free (heavy on the most likely), trails will probably be wet, maybe muddy, from the afternoon and night before. Still, I wouldn't consider them a necessity for most areas.

I have to agree with Shillmac - waterproof shoes or boots aren't absolutely neccesary, but you might be very glad to have them. Depends on how much hiking and tromping around you tend to do. We did a lot of hiking through the rain through wet, mucky forests, and definitely intend to bring gortex boots on our next trip to CR!
