Fort worth texas to Abita Springs Louisiana 30 hours where to stop on route

Hi from the UK. we are doing the usual trying to see so much in so little time. We are sending a few nights in Fort worth Texas Leaving some time on a thurday & need to be in Abita springs around 5 pm. We can leave early & get on the road or maybe leave lunch time. 500 miles with one driver. WE are prepared for an over night stop on the way , but where ? Hubbies interests are music, native indian culture and of course must not miss sights.
All help appreciated.

If you need to be in Abita Springs by 5 p.m. on Thursday, you probably need to leave Fort Worth by 7 a.m. as the drive takes almost 8 hours according to Google map and at some point your driver will need a break.

If you want a little US history and a bit longer drive, you could route yourself through either Vicksburg or Natchez, both have historic sites.

Otherwise maybe spend the night in Baton Rouge.

If you are interested in history, then I'd definitely go via I-20 toward Jackson and stop in Vicksburg. You'll find a huge number of hotels in the area between Vicksburg and Jackson for your night stop. Definitely leave early so you have time to tour the Vicksburg battlefield area. It's very interesting.

Looks like you'd probably go through Shreveport about lunchtime no matter which way you'd go.

I'd suggest you turn off I20 briefly and go down I49 two exits to pierremont Road. Have lunch at Superior Grill (Mexican), wine country (upscale, farm to table southern) Blue (down home southern) or if you want something else there are lots of restaurants in the area.

Then stretch your legs with a walk through Nortin Art Gallery. Lots of Frederick Remington bronzes. It's small so won't take long. The gardens are gorgeous behind the museum so make sure you walk through them.

I totally love the idea of going to Vicksburg. It's fascinating.
