Unplug the TV
A while back I read somewhere to unplug TV's when you go on vacation.
Last week, my wife noted a smell in the bedroom. I discovered that it was coming from the TV, which was off. The smell was that of burning insulation. I unplugged the TV and discarded it. TV's have some always on circuitry when "off" so that the remote can turn it on. If this had happened when we were away for days, we may have had a fire disaster.
