4 nights of luxury
I am looking for an amazing hotel in Oahu for 4 nights with my husband. We are adopting a baby soon and are looking for a vacation where it is just the two of us before the baby comes. For this vacation, we prefer not to be in a big all inclusive resort filled with kids.
We are interested in the following:
1. Luxury
2. Romance
3. Views
Thank you!!!

If i were going back to Hawaii, I would not go back to Oahu, as nice as the Halekulani was. I would go back to the Four Seasons in Maui. or I would go to the Four seasons on the Big island, or i would try Kuai. But i have no desire to go back to Oahu.

OK, after considering may places and islands, I have now settled on Kauai in September.
The north side sounds like what we are interested in with lots of scenery.
I think we will try to do the following:
Helicopter ride
Sail to Na Pali
Go to Ke'e Beach
Wialua Falls or Kipu Falls
With a budget of $600/night, is Princeville the best place to stay or is there a smaller gem I have not heard about?
THanks

If you're still Oahu-bound, I prefer Kahala Resort to Halekulani. Halekulani is newer and has better rooms, but its the location that makes a world of difference. Kahala is completely removed from the drone of Waikiki (which Halekulani is in the midst of).

We were almost set on 4 nights in Kauai. Planned on Princeville until I heard it will be closed for renovations in September. Now we are looking at other places to stay. Our budget is about $600 a night and we would rather not be in a big resort filled with kids. More interested in someplace romantic.
Still researching and appreciate all the feedback.

That sounds very good! I will look into that. I was just researching and it seems Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is pretty great. THe pool looks amazing which seems good since the beach is not swim-able? I am pricing a package on expedia for a delux ocean view room, Jeep rental and airfare from San Jose, CA. Seems to be good.
I will look at the other suggested hotels as well. I love kids, but this vacation is all about celebrating each other before the arrival of our kids!

I can't afford the Kauai Hyatt but it looks great from outside Restaurants are good too. To the east you can walk/drive to Mahaulepu(sp) beach, very few people, just a great spot. There's also horse riding close to the Hyatt.
The other possibility would be a high-end condo (or house) rental unless cooking is totally off the agenda, Kauai doesn't have the restaurant density of some areas. However many places have a 5 nt minimum - so stay longer !
Having said the above, for me when it comes to views from a room/condo, west Maui is hard to beat. Looking out over the channel to see Molokai and Lanai rather than an empty horizon is something special to me, hard to explain.
Have you looked at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua, or fancy rentals in the area ?
