Alcatraz -- day or evening tour?
Hi all:
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday season.
I had read that the Alcatraz tour is somewhat different in the evening as supposed to the day. It appears that we are going so I'd like to choose the best one. Any thoughts on this subject? Also, since we are going in March do you think we should we book in advance?
Thanks,
Mary

Ive done both tours and I think the night tour was great. It is an extra $10 I think which is for conservation of the area and after the regular tour they offer some fun and interesting talks and info sessions around the island. Like famous inmates, inmates who tries to escape, cell door demonstration, which they do not offer during the day. But yes you should definitely reserve in advance regardless of when you go.

I have only done the daytime tour, so can't compare the two. We were booked on the first boat of the morning which was nice. That way we had the rest of the day for other things.
I would absolutely book ahead. We were also there in March, which was our spring break, and they were sold out. We booked ahead and were fine, but if we had not we would have been completely out of luck.
