Anyone gotten to the point lately where your interest has waned here as you've "seen it all" by now and it's the same q's over and over?

GoT # Jset- Bad girls! I had to check out the full post on FFRR just to see what y'all were talking about.
It made me think of those nauseating Christmas letters from sorority sisters I haven't seen in 15 years detailing how their lives are fabulous and their children are darlings.

In my own defense, I think it was a FFR&R where one of our very own Fodorites was grieving over a personal tragedy. Almost all the posts on the FFR&R were condolence and the BAM! Out of nowhere is this cheery, zippy, cutesie, smiley post about DDs and DSs and DH and swim meets, and gym trainers, and Cambria, and chocolaty things, and yummy wine snacks AD NASEUM!!
However I will admit to being evil and you Kal, jetset, MizScarlett, and amwoso are every bit as bad
Doncha lovitt?

GoT,
a friend just emailed me , commenting on a thread over on the Europe forum and had this to say.
You can't win a battle of wits with an unarmed person
It is, I think, so appropriate to the FFRR posting that you mentioned also..

To the original question:
What amazes me in some ways are the questions that AREN'T asked, the certain degree of one-dimensionality of people in their choices of travel destinations. Go on the Latin American forum and you'll see what I mean... in the over 6 years of Fodor's existence, there's only approximately 30 posts to the entire country of Guyana and the entire country of Paraguay. One could say, well these countries are far away from the Fodor's main users (U.S. citizens), and that's true, but I still find *only* 30 posts over all the years to be quite an interesting statistic.
It's not only "far away" places; after going to Monterrey Mexico in 2003, I was happy to discover a historic (founded 1596), unique, vibrant, mountain-surrounded metropolis of 3.4 million people only 2 hrs from Texas border that I thought easily rivaled the best cities of the US and Canada for energy and excitement. Since I visited the first time in December 2003, I kept an eye out to see if I could help future Fodor's visitors and was disappointed that there was only about one post yearly (and one was "how's the drive from Monterrey to Mazatlan LOL ?").
All this to say, that yes, there are certain questions that come up again and again (favourite restaurant in Montreal) which I'd only answer if I'd discovered something that I'd not said in the past, but I find that unanswered questions or interesting travel thoughts, trip reports, ideas or itineraries do come up periodically that I enjoy reading, helping or commenting. I find I usually follow the forum more after I've done a post though to see if other people respond to something I've written (what egocentrism LOL), and perhaps with a hope of seeing people veering off a beaten track.
Happy travels! DAN

Agree with you, Dan. I've checked the Asia board many times and noticed that the same locations get posts over and over. In reference to Japan specifically, I've often answered posts about getting off the beaten track, since I've travled a good deal in Shikoku, Kyushu and the Nihonkai coast regions. To my disappointment, most people want to visit only Tokyo and Kyoto. Oh well.

Damn~I just happened to be travelling last Friday(to Seattle) and missed the FFR&Rs. However, given the description (including the chocolate sacs) I can only guess how things went with Little Kimme.

This is timing - it isn't just me. I just posted a Hawaii thread a few days ago asking where everyone was. It has been so quiet.
Reading through this thread it is kind of funny how jaded we all are. Sort of "These young Whippersnappers, with their silly Road to Hana questions".
Thank Heaven for everyone that has posted here. I no longer worry about traveling to a new place: I have so many friends there!
