Aspen/Vail/Beaver Creek end of March?
Hi and trying to find the best time to visit Colorodo to avoid frigid temperatures, peak room rates, and over crowded slopes. Would the last week of March still be consider good snow conditions for skiing
Aspen, Vail, or Beaver Creek? Thinking of staying in 2 places (3 days each) and renting a car to get from Aspen to Vail. What's the driving time between Aspen and Vail and does Aspen have an airport with flights from major cities? THANKS!

I'd leave ASpen out of the picture--just too much time travelling.
Vail has over 5000 acres--you could easily spend a week there. Beaver Creek is just 10 minutes down the road, so easy to combine with Vail.
Beaver Creek is rarely crowded; when we ski in the Vail-Beaver Creek area, we do Beaver Creek on the weekend days, and have never had a lift line of more than a few minutes.

I agree with Abram. Aspen is quite a ways from Vail, and the road leading to Aspen is twisty/turny and long. You would be better off staying at Beaver Creek and Vail. There are also several other resorts in the area. Keystone and Dillon are both interesting and faily close as well.
I'm sure you will have a great time with whatever itinerary you choose. Can't go wrong in Colorado!

Agree with Abram, BC is rarely crowded even at busy times. The snow should be good at that time. You can fly into Vail/Eagle airport. I sugggest staying in Vail the entire time. Ski BC on the weekend and Vail midweek and you should have a great time. Last week of March will still be high season as for as lodging look at http://www.econovail.com for ideas on saving money also http://denver.craigslist.org/vac sometimes has good rates on owner direct condos.
Aspen does have an airport.
Drive times: From Denver International Airport (DEN): 220 miles west via I-70 and Colorado 82.
From Grand Junction's Walker Field (GJT): 125 miles east via I-70 and Colorado 82.
From Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE): 70 miles west via I-70 and Colorado 82.

My husband and I drove from Vail to Aspen 2 years ago during the summer and I think it took us 2 hours. The roads are windy and there's a good chance you could run into snow. I'm with the rest of them and go one place or the other. Beaver Creek, Vail, Keystone, Breckinridge are all close to each other and that would be safe to drive during that time of year but I don't think I'd do Aspen. The snow should still be pretty good based on the amount they have been receiving. If you are looking for a condo check out www.VailCascade.com and click on accomadations. They have lots of things that are of great quality for a variety of rates. We spend the summers in Vail and love it. Spring should be beautiful.

Agree with the previous posters re: sticking close to one resort. Aspen, in good weather, is a 2 hr drive from Vail.
Due to varying Spring Breaks, March usually is high season for rates (and best snow). I would go as late in March as possible or early April for best prices. Check with a hotel - they'll tell you the exact day the rates go down. Usually all other properties will have the same day for dropping rates.
