Just reopened today after repairs and cleanups from 9/11. www.c21stores.com.

While I keep hearing of its opening, no one is saying what the revamped store is like. Let me know.

Century 21 is great, but since then, I've found some great stores sprinkled throughout NY that sell designer stuff for cheap.

How do you get there now from 57th & 7th, either bus or subway?

Take the 1,2 to Fulton, or A,C to Nassau/Broadway or N/R to Wall St. and walk west (toward what used to be WTC) on Cortland St. C21 is/was right across the street from WTC.

The best way to get to Century 21 from 57th and 7th is to walk down to 53rd and 7th Avenue and take the downtown E train. Take it to the last stop "Chambers St. World Trade Center" and you will come up from the subway 1 block from the store.

I was on my way to Century 21 the morning of 9-11. I'm a little weirded out to go back. Has anyone been there yet?

I was there on Saturday. It's very much like it always was, only cleaner and neater with newer-looking items. And I noticed the luggage department shrank...half of it has been replaced with baskets and other houseware-type stuff.

Oh...and it was as crowded as it's always been. Even though I was there at 10 in the morning.

Glad to have it back...

Although I haven't made it downtown yet, Pete Hamill from the Daily News did: http://nydailynews.com/2002-03-04/News_and_Views/City_Beat/a-143288.asp

And Suzanne, maybe more luggage is on its way! (In his column Hamill was looking for a hat and was told they should arrive next week.)

Finally got there on Sunday. Seemed just as I remebered it. Can't speak for luggage or hats because I wasn't looking for those items. There were plenty of people in the store by efficient cashiers, moving people quickly. I still shed a tear being down there but going into C21, at least reinforces that life must go on and is. BTW, the burger across on Broadway has free internet access. Many PCs were available for use on Sunday afternoon.
