Best route from OBX to DC

We will be traveling on a Friday, what is the best route up to DC? We can leave any time of the morning...also, any idea of how long the trip should take? THANK YOU!

Yes but does freetrip know the traffic patterns and best times to avoid rush hour?

That's why I asked here, I'd like to get some advice from people rather than a computer program.

Can anyone helP?

On a Firday, you might want to take the big Chesapeake Bay Bridge at Virginia Beach over to the Virginia Eastern Shore taking Route 13. You take Rt. 13 north to Salisbury where you take Route 50 West to the little Chesapeake Bay Bridge between Kent Island and Annapolis. Proceed to continue along Route 50 into Washington. By using this route, you might not get stuck in northern Virginia traffic which can be horrible on Firday afternoons/nights.

Thanks Shane, that's the kind of advice I can't get on freetrip!

I am always happy to help. As my wife, kids and I vacation in southeastern North Carolina three times a year and we live on MD's Eastern Shore, I am very familiar with using the eastern shore to get to the Carolinas. Traffic is almost always an ease.
