Beware: Labor Dispute at Hilton Hawaiian Village marks 30 days
First World problem, but just a heads up if you are heading there. We had scheduled 5 nights at HHV, a resort we've visited numerous times in the past, including when departing a three-year military stay on Oahu; we looked forward to a restful few days and had confirmed 72 hours ahead.
As many other guests have reported, in the media and in hotel reviews, 2000 hotel workers are out and are drumming and using bullhorns from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. as they walk the picket lines on all sides, including the beach.
,
The stay consisted of self-catering--towels stacked by the elevator, plastic bags supplied for dirty linens and trash, etc. Most cafes closed, though possibly some still from pandemic days. We did claw back half of the room cost and the resort fee, since we could not actually enjoy the resort.
We largely hold corporate Hilton and management responsible--regardless of hotel worker demands (especially in view of the high cost in Hawaii)--they neither informed incoming guests nor posted information on their websites--very shortsighted, as they retained some income but lost a lot of longer term customers. We saw visitors from Australia and Japan as well as Europe and can only imagine how they felt--we only traveled from CA. Advise staying elsewhere!!
