My wife and I (early 30s) are trying to decide whether to go to Oahu or the Big Island? We have already decided to spend 4 days in Lanai. We have already been to Kauai and Maui. Any thoughts? We just want to relax, do a little hiking, but we are not big scuba divers or anything.

I cast my vote for the big island, the only one with an active volcano.

Oahu is my favorite--action and variety (and beauty) on Waikiki and scenic beauty driving around the island and up Mt. Tantalus, Pali Lookout, Punchbowl Cemetery, etc.

doc04, I love all the islands, but if you're going to enjoy all that quiet on Lanai, I would spend the rest of the time on Oahu.

How much time do you have? If it's more than 2 or 3 days I'd recommend the BI, as it has more diverse hiking -- but distances between attractions are greater. If you have only a couple of days Oahu might be a better choice.

Oahu is the best. There's more to do than all of the other islands combined.
