Broadway Tix for Students $20?

I have read that students can get $20 tickets for same day performances. Are these purchased at the TKTS booth? I also read they can purchase 2 each. Can an adult use these or just another student? We have 3 college students and are wondering if they can buy our tickets. Thanks!

To answer two of your questions:
*The tickets are available at the individual box offices, NOT at TKTS.
*You must show your student ID to get them.

and they sell out in 5 minutes as soon as the box office opens. Get in line very early.

Oh, your other question. Theaters have different policies. Some permit college students to purchase two tickets and the extra ticket can be used by the parent. But getting the tickets is extremely difficult. We tried last month with no luck.

TKTS opens at 10 a.m. for matinee performances and 3 p.m. for evening performances. The lines start forming at least an hour ahead of time.
Box offices open at 10 a.m. (possibly later on Sundays). If you're looking for the $20 ticket, you better get there at least an hour earlier. Another low-price possibility are standing-room tickets.

I get standing 99% of the time. Find out at the box office when they sell them & how much. Saw six shows in four days for $125---Mamma Mia standing $30--(last Dec)Phantom was $l5 (couple of years ago).

As mentioned by other posters, Rush policies differ at each theater. I have been successful many times for shows like Rent (lottery), Chicago (arm bracelets distributed to those first in line), Caberet, etc. However, I have also been unsuccessful (tried to see Urinetown last week, but they only have 20 rush seats). Check out this site for some good info:

http://www.talkinbroadway.com/boards/rush.html

The list of shows on the board at TKTS is available at newyork.citysearch.com after 4pm. Please remember that TKTS tickets are usually 25-50% off the highest priced tickets and that a $2.50 per ticket surcharge is added. Only cash is accepted (and maybe travelers checks).

Enjoy!
