Cambria Pines Lodge
We will be flying into San Francisco and out of a LA in July. We want to stop in between. Is the Cambria Pines Lodge a good option? Just saw a great summer special advertised...We are a family of 5

It has a good location at the end of Moonstone Drive--across the street from a wonderful walk along the headlands. I've never stayed there, but relatives, looking for a comparatively inexpensive place in Cambria, stayed there are were pleased with it. Rooms in Cambria are expensive. If you've found a deal, I'd go for it.

Hi Clau- I don't know what your 'great summer special' is, but I know Cambria hotels aren't exactly bargains. When we visit for weekends we use Cambria Vacation rentals. More bang for the buck. You can check their web page calendar to see what's vacant. Even though the reservation web page shows for 7 nights, if you CALL they'll do a two night min if something is vacant. Holidays are 3 nights and by city ordinance there is a 5 night min for ocean front. Do you plan on visiting Hearst Castle?

My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights at the end of October 2005. It is located on a hill fairly high above the "downtown" of Cambria. It is a complex of a number of buildings, some of them, I'm sure, dating back to the 60's or so. Looking at their current property map, it appears that we were in the Woodfern unit, which had 4 rooms on a second level and 4 rooms beneath, with adequate parking right in front. As far as we were concerned, our room was just fine, but then we date back much further than the 60's, so there was some nostalgia there. The property is indeed in a pine forest, and there is indeed a path leading down the hill to the main part of town. We took it a couple of times.
We liked the on-site restaurant for dinner. But restaurants change, so it may not be the same now. The buffet breakfast was great, and it was included in the price of our room. Again, that may or may not be the case now.
