Car Rental

Help, we need to rent a car in Phoenix for one night. We rented a car away from the airport last year while in Phoenix but cannot remember the name of the agency. It was not Hertz or any popular name. They were reasonable and very clean.

We always use Budget in PHX. Very reasonable.

I'm guessing it was Fox. They typically have an off site rental so they avoid many of the airport taxes.

Just because I continue to be curious about amwosu's informatio0n about taxes and car rentals, I just checked Fox rental in Phoenix. First, rental location is at airport according to their website. Difference between cheapest car rental for one day from them, including taxes and search done on Travelocity for cheapest car rental was about $.50/day, including taxes.

No matter who you rent from, if it is a non-airport location, just check directly with that office to make sure they are open when you need to pick-up/return car (although some have option to return car when they are closed), especially if it is a weekend. We have found website listed hours do not always match reality with "in-city" rental locations.

I guess it depends on location as far as Fox is concerned. I just made a reservation for a car in Anchorage from Fox and it is offsite and it was more than $100 difference for the weekly base rate.

Fox tends to be offsite in various cities, I think so they can offer a cheaper rate. Didn't mean to give misinformation about Phoenix.
