Chicago Road Construction?
Traveling from northeast Indiana to Rosemont this Friday (3/5). Is it true that 80-90 is a mess - with longer than usual delays? Are they bothersome enough to consider taking the train into downtown and the el over to Rosemont? Thanks in advance. You guys are always the best ;^)

Chicago area traffic is almost always a mess (I live in the suburbs). If you can make this drive other than rush hour it should be fine. I do highly recommend taking I294, aka Tristate rather than I90 aka Ryan/Kennedy. The train will get you to Cumberland or O'Hare. I depends on where in Rosemont you need to be but neither of those places is walking distance.

I have travelled around Chicago many times prior, and I hated I-80/94 and I-294. First, on I-80, traffic is bad like 24 hours a day, with the two right lanes filled bumper-to-bumper with semis (I was a truck driver for 3 years). Second, you have to stop numerous times to pay that 25 or 50 cents along the Tri-State/I-294, unless you have the I-pass.
But of course, during rush hour, Ryan/Kennedy could be much worse, so pick your poison.

Depending on where you live in northeast Indiana, you might want to consider taking Route 30 to 394 aka the Bishop Ford Expressway to I294. That would allow you avoid some of the gridlock and tolls...

It's about time they started working on the Skyway. Every time I go over it I think -- this is the time the decrepit thing falls in.
We live in the northeast corner of Indiana. Usually we go to downtown Chicago on the South Shore commuter train from South Bend but, when we're going somewhere other than downtown, we drive in on 80/90. This time though, I'm just not sure.
We're seeing a concert at the Rosemont Theatre Friday night so we need to make sure we're there in time to check into our hotel and get over to the show. The CTA website makes it look like the blue line stops just a half mile from the hotel on River Road. Does that sound right?
I'll check out the alternate routes you suggested but I'd appreciate additional feedback.
Thanks.
