Chicago Steak Restaurants that also serve seafood - near Mag Mile?

Hi All,

DH and I are meeting my FIL and step MIL (who are flying in from the UK) in Chicago at the end of the month (March) for a long weekend. We wanted to take them out for a nice all American steak house but since I'm not that big of a steak fan, I was wondering if there was a good steak house that also served something else - preferably seafood? We'll be staying at the Hilton Suites Mag Mile on E. Delaware St so somewhere we can walk to would be great but a short taxi cab is fine too if the place is good. Also, we meet up close after the new year to celebrate our "Christmas dinner" together since we weren't together this past Christmas. Nothing too expensive but somewhere nice.

Many thanks for your kind advice!

Gibson's Steakhouse always gets high marks. It's at 1028 N Rush, about 4 blocks west of your hotel www.gibsonssteakhouse.com. There's the Chicago Chop House at 60 W Ontario, about a mile SW. www.chicagochophouse.com

For atmosphere, I've always liked Lawry's The Prime Rib at 100 E Ontario, just off Michigan Avenue in the former McCormick Mansion. It's about 8 blocks south of the Hilton Suites. I admit that I was very disappointed in a meal there a while ago and stayed away for a long time, but the last time I was there everything was fine. Despite the name, the menu includes several other choices. The restaurant is known for its "spinning bowl" salad and prime rib carved tableside on large rolling carts. www.lawrysonline.com

You can also search www.chicagoreader.com by neighborhood, cuisine or price range for other possibilities.

If I'm getting a steak in Chicago, The Chop House is the place.

Steak and seafood - how about Smith and Wollensky? We had an excellent dinner there a week ago. For appetizers, my husband had the "seafood bouquet" - lobster, oysters, shrimp, clams, crab - everything was so fresh! The crabcake that I had was very tasty, all lump, no filler. The French Onion soup was perfectly seasoned, loaded with melting onions in a delicious broth. For my steak, I had the gorgonzola-crusted filet mignon. I haven't had steak as good as that in a long time. My husband was very happy with his bone-in rib eye with bearnaise sauce. The sides are so huge that we split an order of creamed spinach - it was more than enough for the two of us.
