Dillon Lake or Grand Lake?? Colorado

We want to rent a condo or cabin RIGHT on a lake for a week or so in August, do a bit of sightseeing and have time to rest (golf-him) and relax (me-staring at the water. Time to renew my soul! Whihc lake would you choose and why?

I absolutely love Grand Lake. As you probably know there are cabins to rent. they are simple and rustic with a kitchenette and one bath.
The main lodge is great! It has an Outstanding restaurant, with award winning cuisine and chef. the views are spectacular! there are large fires every night there wheere you can enjoy a hot chocolate or a cocktail.
The Pool is nice too. We enjoyed riding horses here too.
The lake below has a small beach, and places you can rent a sail boat or a little motor boat.
It is close to the Nat'l Park too.
I love this place. I do not think there is golf here, mybe nearby.
the town is cute too!
Have fun!!!

We've never stayed at Dillon, but ditto the above poster on voting for Grand Lake. We went twice for family vacations, in '99 and '00, and just love the area. We stayed at a group of cabins called Lemon Lodge (I think); they have cabins both right on and just off the lake, and also cabins right on a rushing stream that goes into the lake. My, but it was relaxing falling to sleep to the sound of that water rushing over the rocks! It was also just a 3-minute walk to "downtown" for dining/shopping excursions. I believe the above poster is referring to "Grand Lake Lodge" (or similar), which is a full service "resort" with all the amenities. And I remember my research back then showing me several lake/stream-front individual cabins/cottages/houses available for weekly rentals.

We LOVED the town of Grand Lake itself: kinda rustic and with lots of character, and SO MUCH LESS CROWDED than the Estes Park side. The town itself is right on the lake, and has plenty of restaurants/services to choose from. Georgous scenery everywhere; easy access to the NP. I can't imagine that you wouldn't love a week at Grand Lake.....

I was referring to Grand Lake Lodge. I should have been more clear. but even if you don't stay in their cabins you can still enjoy a meal there. I highly reccomennd that.

The town is so cute and not congested with people.
It is so gorgeous there. Also, if you wnat in for on the above referenced resort go to - grandlakelodge.com

Grand Lake, top of the list. Fishing, 2 golf courses, Grand Lake(tree lined, tight fairways, beautiful) and Sol Vista(links course, great)and the best Pizza in the state. Relax by the lake at Lemon Lodge(no website, call) or Grand lake Lodge, which others have described.
Have a great time in Colorado.

Grand Lake. NO contest. Lots of golf nearby, absolutely gorgeous water and mountains, no "water level used to be here" marks.
(Look into the newer condos for rent if the rustic cabin idea isn't working.)
