Do you know the way to San Jose? From Santa Rosa

Trying to figure out how to get from Santa Rosa to San Jose using public transportation-

I think maybe a bus is the answer- not sure- does not appear to be a train connection

Any suggestions

I don't have specifics but think you could take a Golden Gate Transit bus to downtown San Francisco, then take MUNI or a short cab ride to Caltrain station at 4th & King Streets to catch a Caltrain. Another option might be to take the Sonoma Airporter to SFO (airport), then take BART to Millbrae BART/Caltrain station and catch a Caltrain. Have a look at 511.org and try the trip planner.

Golden Gate transit bus, if a weekday, should be several lines, if on weekend, bus 80.

With the underground in the works, don't know how buses 30/45 are running now, if you can take one from the new transit station in SF to Caltrain.

From Caltrain station to San Jose.

Oh, wait, is there the new metro line N or T that you can take from the final stop of 80 in San Francisco to Caltrain?

Maybe this trip planner can help? It's asking me not just for towns, but also for street addresses

any GG Transit bus form Santa Rosa (there are a few, depending on if you are coming during commute hours ) to Civic Center. (8th and Market) At Civic Center take SF MUNI N train towards the ballpark, and N, get off at the last stop.

Its sounds a bit complicated - we were trying to avoid a rental car because of the drop charge but it may be the best choice

thanks for you suggestions

it's not complicated, just time consuming. It's actually very easy.

You can try craigslist.org under rideshares. I have used this several times from San Diego to SF.
