Exciting things going on this Saturday?
We are taking a family trip to the city this Saturday. We are looking for unique, fun things that are happening. We have done all the usual things on prior trips, so new ideas will be appreciated. So far we are planning to visit the Museum of the City of NY and boating in Central Park. Other ideas?

You can check out Time Out New York or Friday's NY Times for listings. I do know there's a Run/Walk fundraiser for women & cancer. It will start at Times Square at about 9am and go up Seventh Avenue to Central Park, then up the west side in the park so just beware of possible traffic problems that morning.
You'll miss Cinco de Mayo by one day, but you might want to stop in at El Museo del Barrio after the Museum of City of NY. It's one block north (1230 Fifth Ave). There's an exhibition on 20th century Mexican art including works by Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera.
If I read about any happenings this Saturday I'll post. We'll be going to one of the great bargains in NY - a family concert at Carnegie Hall for $5 a ticket! And Yo Yo Ma is performing this Saturday (sold out alas).

This Saturday, May 4, is the one day of the year that the public is allowed inside Gramercy Park. It is beautiful. There will be a brass band and some kind of drawing for prizes, and probably something to entertain children. It probably opens at 10, I'll check.
If you're downtown it's a great place to visit. Subway to Union Square, walk up Irving Place to 20th Street.
