Exercise band-carry on?

Exercise band-carry on?
I will be flying to Hawaii and will only bring a backpack. I'd like to bring my exercise band and wonder if it would make it through security? Your thoughts? Thanks.

The airline has nothing to do with it - it's all for the TSA to decide.
That said, I'm having absolutely no luck figuring out why it wouldn't be allowed. Isn't it just a large rubber band? If you can state the reasons you think there might be cause for concern, maybe someone can alleviate those specific fears. But I can't for now see why it would be a problem at all.

I'm afraid the TSA will think it is a potential weapon. It is a large rubber band but could be tied around someone's neck. I guess I will just bring it and hope they don't confiscate it.

You can go to the TSA website and see the list of forbidden items.
As Gail said, it's not just that it's a potential weapon they're looking for. I could impale someone with my pencil, hit someone over the head with a heavy book, strangle them with a shoelace . . . Many things we all carry could be used as weapons if we really wanted to.

I've brought my exercise band with me on many trips and never had it questioned by TSA. They never even noticed it. So I doubt you'll have a problem. (Of course, the question is, will you be disciplined enough to actually use it when you get there? I find I often don't!)
