Flamingo or Luxor

I'm with Patrick on this one. Why in the world would you mail a check instead of using a credit card? And, if your check hasn't cleared the bank why would you continue to call the hotel? A lost piece of mail is not something the accounting dept of a hotel has any control over..
I'm gonna have to play the Freaky Friday rants and raves after this post!

OK, now I am booked at the Luxor - decided to try it over Flamingo. We like the nightlife at Mandalay Bay and NYNY so we will be closer to them at the south end of the strip and won't have to walk far at night. Will give a report on my return but I still have 4 months to go!! Has anyone dined at RED SQUARE at Mandalay- we are thinking here for our anniversary dinner????? If not, other suggestions - we like fun but upscale, not necessarily romantic and we do not like French restaurants (at least Husband doesn't)and No chains! Thanks!

Patrick:
We sent a check for the prepayment because the hotel would not take a credit card for the amount unless we also sent them a social-security number AND a driver's license number. The rationale was that this procedure prevented identify theft!
Yes, I sent a copy of the cancelled check (cleared the bank in early December), a week and a half ago. Last Friday I finally got through to the accounting manager, who promised to call me back today after finding out what happened to the check (the person to whom I'd sent it went home at 4:00 last Friday). I'm still waiting.
The reason that I've made so many phone calls is that I get transferred from one person to another (including the golf clinic) and no one wanted to say "Let me see if I can help." I am an experienced traveller and I have never encountered such a stonewalling operation. No one wants to admit that the credit for the check got lost in the system.
