Flowers at Pearl Harbor

I thought someone here recently mentioned visiting Pearl Harbor and scattering flowers and one of my guidebooks mentions it in passing. I would like to do that, but I don't know the protocol. Where do I do it? At the memorial itself? If so, do I just carry the flowers? we can't take bags or purses. Maybe wear a lei which I can cut and throw the flowers, not the string?

Thanks.

We were there a couple weeks ago, and although we did not leave flowers, there was a sign about it and others who did. It was out at the memorial itself (near the wall with the names of the fallen soldiers). My recollection is that there were leis left not loose flowers. I also saw a sign saying to ask one of the military personnel at the memorial about proper protocal for leaving the flowers. Maybe there is more info on the AZ Memorial website
