Hilton ORD or Residence Inn Rosemont?

Hi,

Looking for a hotel for my in-laws to overnight at in Chicago on their way to Hawaii on United. Is the Hilton at ORD worth the $299 price (incl. breakfast)? I've heard good things about the Residence Inn (just under half the price), but the difference is walking vs. shuttle.
They think they'll have four suitcases all together. I'm trying to find info comparing it to the Hyatt at DFW where we were right on top of the terminal we needed to be at and the bellman dropped our bags off at the airline check-in counter. Is that the same service from the Hilton at ORD?
Mahalo for any advice!

Don't know much about the Hilton other than it's right on the airport grounds, but $299? Wow, that seems awfully high. There are plenty of other hotels in the area. One thing about staying at O'Hare or Rosemont: It's not an easy area to walk around. They'd be kinda stuck at the hotel without a car. Not a problem if they're arriving late and leaving early the next day, but if they're landing in the afternoon, they might be bored out of their minds staying out there.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply! I thought it was a high price too, but they overnighted near LAX one time and they said they had problems with the airport shuttle picking up several hotels, so now they are worried about taking a shuttle.
They get in around 6pm, out the next morning at around 10am, but thanks for the tip of needing a car, i have to find out their dinner options too so that narrows it down!
Mahalo again!

The Hilton is great. I have stayed there about 3-4 times. The convenience can't be beat. They can just walk to the CTA station and hour later they are downtown and can pick and chose from a variety of great restaurants for dinner. The CTA Blue line is safe, so no worries about getting back to the airport. It's ~$2.00 per person, each way.

The Residence Inn is nice but it means a shuttle service from/to airport if they want to go downtown.

The Hilton is worth the price as it is in the Airport complex. You can walk to the hotel directly from the baggage claim. You get to the hotel an hour earlier than an outlying hotel via shuttle and you get ann extra hours sleep in the morning because you are already at the airport. I don't know why people would be "wow"ed by $299.00 per night at any hotel; especially one that is the most convenient to travel. We can take a 15 hour red-eye from the West Coast to the Caribbean through DFW or an overnight two day series of flights connecting through ORD. It is easier to travel with a five hour direct flight on day one, the overnight stay at the Hilton and two connections (8 hours) to the Caribbean on the second day out of ORD. To stay off the airport grounds is penny wise and pound foolish when your in-laws are traveling so far to Hawaii. If they can afford Hawaii then they can afford to make their overnight in Chicago as easy as possible.
