How far is Hailemaile General Store Restaurant & Mama's from Wailea?

Hi there!

We're staying at the 4S Maui for our honeymoon, and really want to eat at the Hailemaile General Store and Mama's Fish House while we are there.

However, when I put the addresses in on mapquest or mapblast, the towns are not found.

Can anyone tell me the driving time from Wailea to these two restaurants?

Thanks so much - we are so looking forward to going after all of the rave reviews we read here! Great advice across the board as well - what a huge difference this made in planning our trip!!

try typing in 'paia' for mama's and haliimaile for the other restaurant. these are the correct spellings, and i found them on mapquest.

as for driving times, i think it wd be abt 30 minutes one way wailea-haliimaile, bit more to paia. sorry can't be more precise.

Mar is correct in her estimate of driving time from Wailea to Halimaile. It's a few more miutes further on to Paia. If you're staying in Wailea then you might want to try Joe's Bar and Grill...located in Wailea by the Wailea Tennis courts and Grand Champions Villas (up the hill from The Shops at Wailea.) Joe's is owned by the same husband and wife...Joe and Bev Gannnon who own Halimaile. I like to have lunches at Halamaile and dinners at Joe's when staying in Wailea. Also try Tommy Bahamas in the shopping village for a fun lunch spot with a view...Also SeaWatch restaurant on the Gold Golf course in Wailea is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Good food and good view.

I would not go out of my way to dine at Haliimale General Store. We dined there as we were in the area and thought it was just OK. I would've been disappointed if we had made a special trip just to go there. Check the rants & raves section of this site - it gets pretty mixed reviews.

hmmm. patti is right--haliimaile is hit or miss. it's one of my favorite restaurants on maui, but not for its fish dishes or desserts.

what i wd kill for is the hunan-style rack of lamb, and the duck taco appetizer. the duck taco is a soft crepe topped w/ baby greens mixed w/ a light creamy dressing, itself topped w/ pieces of shredded duck, sliced asian pear, candied walnuts, dried cranberries and duck cracklings. this w/ a glass of white wine makes a meal for me.

also the citrus salmon is very good, and i had a daily special a couple months ago--a crdamy tarragon seafood pasta w/ fresh grapes--that was a surprise hit. i mean, grapes??!
